Concert in the Park

Tonight we took a trip to base for their concert in the park shin-dig. The band was pretty good. They played a lot of good cover songs. Hubby was especially excited when they played Blurred Lines. We've deemed that song his theme song. We packed our dinner in our picnic basket and brought it with to enjoy there. It was pretty disappointing that there was only like 25 people there! I guess it was at a weird time on a Sunday. Never the less, it was nice to get out and do something together and enjoy the nice (but very hot) San Diego weather.

Tie-Dye Date

The Husband and I have a list of things we want to do for dates. This week we decided on Tie-Dying some T-shirts and socks! I got a coupon from Joanne Fabrics for 50% off one regular priced item so we went and picked up a Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit for a mere $10! Note: I was really happy with this kit! The bottles were pre-filled with dye so you just had to add water. There are also five other packets on color so you can have one more day of Tie-Dye fun! Not to mention the colors are very bright and the instructions are awesome! There are many other kits with various colors, we chose this one because it had an even mix of masculine and feminine colors. Overall, it was a super fun date idea and we are so happy with how everything turned out!!

Vroom Vroom

Ever since I was a young girl I have always wanted a motorcycle, specifically a dirt bike. In 2001 I saw the movie Motocrossed on the Disney channel. Where a teenage girl poses as her brother and competes in Motocross competitions and ends up kicking all the boys' asses. Since then I have been dying to get on a bike. 12 years later and I still have yet to drive or even ride on a motor bike of any kind. About a month ago the Husband bought a motorcycle, and earlier this week he officially got his license. He's been driving it to and from work and going for short rides. Each day I look out the window and watch him leave and see my own dream of riding one go with him. I'm happy for him because it's something he's wanted for himself too. I just hope that someday I will be able to live out my dream of owning one and driving one to and from work. Right now we can't afford a bike for me. It's not really important anyway because we both have cars and I have means of transportation. Doesn't stop me from dreaming and pinning pictures of bikes I would like to own on my pinterest board though! Once the Husband gets more familiar with riding I will be able to ride on his bike with him but it's not the same. Anyway. So here is the Hubster going for his first ride on his bike. Looking damn good in that jacket if I do say so myself. I'm more of a sporty bike fan though...not a cruiser. They are too old looking for my taste! I would love dual sport bike to feed my motocross obsession with the looks but it's more practical to get to and from work and other places since it can safely be driven on the road. Gah!! Someday hopefully!

New Job! (Finally)

I finally got a job! Well, I got it two weeks ago and have been in a lot of training ever since! I'm actually getting really good hours and because of that I have had NO time to blog. I now work in the adoptions department of Helen Woodward Animal Center. It's basically a REALLY nice and fancy Animal Shelter which also has it's own pet hospital, equine hospital, therapeutic riding center, dog boarding facility, thrift shop, and education center for children. It is amazing! My main job duties are sanitizing kennels, feeding, taking care of the basic needs of the dogs in our care, and the fun part is I get to take potential adopters out to meet the dogs they are interested in. When we have down time I get to take dogs out into the field and play with them! I would say I have one of the funnest and most rewarding jobs in the world. Going home at night and seeing a ton of empty kennels where dogs used to be makes me so happy. I am making a difference and I am so glad I get to help homeless animals find families to love them. I will never again purchase a dog from a private breeder. Spending time at the shelter I have seen what breeders like that are doing to our world. There are so many dogs that need homes and I will adopt all my future pets. There are so many dogs and puppies that go through the shelter that I want to take home. I would if our housing allowed three dogs, but I have reached my max of 2 already. I can't say this enough people. SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS AND ADOPT!!! Now, onto some pictures of my adventures there...mostly just pictures of cute puppies.
